Tasting notes:
From vines grown on a steep north facing slope in our Raupo vineyard, where the soils are dense and clay-based. The nose exhibits notes of ripe dark berry fruit, alongside hints of savoury forest floor, rosemary and leather. The palate is concentrated, with deep earth, spice and hedgerow fruit characters, framed by fine, well-integrated tannins and a persistent, fresh finish.

Reviews:

94 points, Wine Enthusiast

This single-vineyard wine from well respected biodynamic producer Seresin (which has recently been majorly downsized, so relish these older vintages while they're still here) from the clay slopes of Marlborough's Omaka Valley, is hard not to fall head over heels for. It fills the nose with a perfume of ripe cherries, florals, cocktails bitters and savory spices. But it shines most brightly on the palate, which is juicy, bright and harmonious, with precise tannins. A tightrope walk between sweet and savory that makes another sip all too easy. Drink now–2028.

94 Points, Vinous

More than six years after the grapes were picked, this is a mellow, round and gorgeous Pinot whose vibrant acidity holds this full-bodied wine together. The tannins are resolved and chalk-like, cupping the wine gently. The low yields are reflected in the excellent density. Plum-like fruit lingers alongside tea leaves and cinnamon on the long finish. While it can be enjoyed fully now for its chilled-out glory, it isn’t going anywhere in a hurry and will continue to provide satisfying drinking over the next 5-7 years before losing its tension. 2021 – 2028

92 Points, Wine Spectator

From a vineyard in the Omaka Valley, the 2014 Raupo Creek Pinot Noir spent 18 months in 13% new French oak. It’s medium ruby in hue, showing toasty, nutty accents to its ripe cherry fruit. This medium-bodied, moderately complex wine looks to be relatively early-maturing and is already drinking well, the silky tannins adding a pleasant dimension on the palate and finish.

Organic and vegan. Mid crimson. More savoury and obviously oaked than the Rachel Pinot 2014. Ripe, dark-red fruit. Firm, chewy and quite dark-fruited on the palate but has Pinot’s supple tannins in a savoury style. Long, fresh, savoury finish and showing very little development for a 2014.
